Newspaper nails - TUTORIAL

Hi,
Today I'll show you a very easy to do cute manicure.
Here's what you need: a newspaper, rubbing alcohol, tweezers and
of course, some nail polish.

Firstly, apply a nude base color on your nails. I used 2 coats of Essie-Topless&Barefoot.
Cut 10 pieces of newspaper.

Take a piece of newspaper with the tweezers and put it in the rubbing alcohol.

Then, apply it on your nail. Push it for about 5-10 seconds.

Peel it off and here's what you get:

Don't forget to apply a top coat after you peel the paper or else it will erase.
I chose a glittery top coat from Flormar, but a clear one is good, too.
This is it! Your manicure it done.

What do you think?

I love it. But what is 'rubbing alcohol' and where do you get it?

according to google...

Isopropyl alcohol, available from most chemists x

Rubbing alcohol is the alcohol used for disinfection, the alcohol used by doctors.

Great idea!!

I think polish thinner would work too, it's the same stuff more or less.

it reminds me of some of h.naoto's early designs. All you would need would be a black tip and maybe some red polish splatter. Very cool.

I'm wanting to try this really soon! I did see a tutorial last night (on some French site, I don't know what the name is because none of it is in English so I didn't notice!) I saw that she dipped her FINGER in the alcohol and not the paper. It seemed to work better. Maybe I'll try it both ways! Thanks for posting this :)

This is really cute, what a great idea... I really can't wait to try this... but I have my 4th of July nails right now... I am so impatient, I wanna go try it right now! I'm telling you, as soon as the clock hit 12:01AM on July 5th, off with red, white, blue mani, and on with newspaper mani. :P

Really I love your manis, especially the summer nails, french-hearted mani, and most recently your birthday mani. But I am just beginning so I will stick with the simpler ones like this one looks. I can't wait until I'm experienced enough to try them.

I've been wandering how that effect is done! Thanks for the tips :)

I have tried this, but the print will not go on my nail. Do you think it has something to do with the fact that I don't use "fresh" newspapers?
